RALPH & WHALEN

The creative partnership between Dave Ralph and Alex Whalen was born in late-2000 when Buzzlife’s Scott Henry paired the two on a Dave’s new monthly at Washington DC’s legendary Nation. The two became fast friends, and within months they were travelling the world delivering a uniquely unpretentious approach to the progressive sound that back then far too often forgot to make people smile.

Their initial productions appeared on Ralph’s Resident Alien CD for System Recordings, setting in place a trademark sound that has often been compared to Thomas Newman in its ability to be “haunting, heartrending, wistful, and booming.” all at the same time. Look for new tracks from the duo throughout 2023.

In addition to performing as solo artists and as a duo, Ralph + Whalen make up half of The Bootycorn Sound System along with LA’s Eskimo Bros. As the Bootycorns, they play big room, old school, chunk-a-funk house music in a B2B2B2B format.
